Llorenç Galmés has been elected president of the Consell de Mallorca in the constitutive session of the eleventh legislature of the insular institution that took place on Saturday in the Plenary Hall of the Palau Reial. Galmés, the ninth president of the Consell de Mallorca, has had the support of the 13 councillors of the Partido Popular and the 5 of Vox.
In his speech, Galmés stressed that “he will govern with humility, harmony and dialogue, and will do so for all Mallorcans, without distinction”.
He also stated that “the Agreements of Government for Mallorca respect the mandate of the ballot boxes to bring change to the island and freedom for the people”. At the constituent session of the Consell, the 33 elected councillors also took office and were sworn in.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens; the President of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne; the delegate of the Spanish Government in the Balearic Islands, Aina Calvo; the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, and other mayors of the municipalities of Mallorca. A large number of representatives of Mallorcan civil society were also present.
For his part, the president of the Consell de Mallorca will preside over the swearing-in ceremony for the councillors tomorrow Tuesday at 10.30 am.
