The Balearic Islands close 2021 with an accumulated inflation of 6.5%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The annual rate of the CPI has risen since last July in the autonomous community in contrast to 2020.

The increase in price responds in part to the rise in the value of housing, which stands at a year-on-year rise of 22.5%. The Balearic Islands, together with Catalonia and Galicia, recorded the smallest increases, with an increase of eight tenths each. The highest inflation occurred in Andalusia and the Basque Country, with a rise of 1.3 points in both.

At the national level, the number rose 6.7%, the highest rate in almost thirty years, due to the rise in electricity and, to a lesser extent, due to food.
