The resident population in the Balearic Islands on 1 January 2024 stood at 1,231,487 inhabitants, which represents an increase of 0.13 % with respect to the fourth quarter of 2023, when the islands counted 1,229,934 residents. This has been made public by the National Statistics Institute, which has released the provisional data of the Continuous Population Statistics (CPS).
Of the total number of inhabitants, 617,476 are women and 614,011 men. While nearly 79% of the population in the Balearic Islands in 2024 is of Spanish nationality (971,761), 21% are of foreign nationality. By age, the largest population groups are those aged between 45 and 49 (107,966), 40 and 44 (102,058) and 50 to 54 (99,106).

In the country as a whole, the population has also grown by 1.06% in one year and now stands at 48,592,909 inhabitants, the highest figure in the INE’s historical series. The main nationalities of immigrants were Colombian, Venezuelan and Moroccan. According to the latest data published by the INE -corresponding to 2022- Morocco, Italy and Colombia would be, in that order, the most frequent countries of nationality in the Balearic Islands.
