The Potato Night Fair 2026 (Fira Nocturna de la Patata 2026) will once again fill the Plaça Major in sa Pobla with gastronomy, music and agricultural tradition on 5 and 6 June. The event, one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the Mallorcan festive calendar, coincides this year with a very special anniversary: the centenary of the arrival of the Royal Kidney potato in the marshlands of sa Pobla, the origin of an export activity that shaped the local economy over the last century.

The fair will bring together bars, restaurants, associations and local producers around the great star of poblera gastronomy: the potato. From traditional recipes to creative proposals, the event will offer dozens of dishes in tapa and sharing-portion format in a festive atmosphere that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
The mayor of sa Pobla, Biel Ferragut, highlights the value of a fair that “pays tribute to the work and effort of farmers” and underlines the role of the poblera potato as one of the great symbols of the municipality.

A century of the potato that transformed sa Pobla
One of the central themes of this year’s edition will be the commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the arrival of the Royal Kidney potato seed in sa Pobla. According to official town chronicler Joan Payeras Llull, it was in 1926 when the experimental cultivation of this English variety began on the Son Señó estate, owned by Pere Antoni Aguiló.
That agricultural experiment would eventually become the origin of the export of the poblera potato to the United Kingdom and one of the main economic driving forces of sa Pobla throughout the 20th century.
