The Fira del Fang 2024 in Marratxí, which will be held from 1 to 10 March 2024 in Sant Marçal, is warming up. Pottery continues to be a living testimony to life in the rural world. Over the centuries, this art form has transcended its practical function to become an artistic expression that reflects the traditions, lifestyles and needs of rural communities.

As part of the Fira del Fang 2024, Marratxí Town Council announced the prestigious Benet Mas award. Leticia Muñoz, a leading artist and teacher in the field of ceramics, has been awarded this prize. Her exhibition project, entitled ‘El fin. El origen’, has been recognised for its innovative approach, where the egg plays a central role. The main purpose of this award, endowed with 3,000 euros, is to promote creation, study and research in the field of ceramics, as well as to highlight Marratxí as a benchmark in ceramics production. Their work will be exhibited at the Museu del Fang for the duration of the fair.

Fira del Fang 2024 Poster

Citizen participation is also encouraged through the competition for the creation of the poster for the XXXIX Fira del Fang de Marratxí, with a single prize of 500 euros. This year’s theme, “Pottery in the rural world”, offers artists the opportunity to express their creative vision of this tradition rooted in the history of Marratxí. The deadline for submissions also ended on 19th December, and it is hoped that the selected poster will reflect the essence and spirit of the fair.

This fair, dedicated exclusively to ceramic artisans, provides a space for those who keep the rural tradition alive to show and sell their work. It is also an opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the rich pottery culture of the region and celebrate the creativity and tradition that continue to define the identity of Marratxí.

Once the details of the programme for the Fira del Fang 2024 in Marratxí are known, this news will be updated.
