In the Balearic Islands, 565 people (313 men and 252 women) died from COVID-19 in 2020 out of a total of 8,559 deaths, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Nationwide, there have been 60,358 deaths from COVID -19, 12% of the total deaths that reached 493,766 last year.

The highest gross rates of deaths from COVID-19 per 100,000 inhabitants last year corresponded to Castilla y León (243.5), Castilla-La Mancha (235.8) and Comunidad de Madrid (215.2). For their part, the lowest rates were in the Canary Islands (18.0), Illes Balears (45.8) and Región de Murcia (48.9).

In Spain, 32,498 men and 27,860 women have died from the virus. These deaths were concentrated in advanced ages. 87.3% of those who died from COVID-19 were 70 or older.
