Can Picafort hosts on September 25 and 26 the VI Edition of the International Craft Beer Contest – CICA 2021. It is the sixth edition of this event, for which more than 300 international, national and local beers have signed up.

On the occasion of the celebration of this craft beers contest in Can Picafort, the Santa Margalida City Council and the Can Picafort Hotel Association, in their spirit of diversifying the tourism product, have promoted during the same days, in parallel, the I Fair of the Cervesa Artesanal Balear de Can Picafort. This action will previously have a press-trip before the contest –on September 23 and 24–. In it, the judges and specialized journalists will be able to know a large part of the cultural and gastronomic offer that the municipality offers.

International Craft Beer Competition

The one in 2021 will be the sixth edition of the International Craft Beer Competition (CICA). A completely renovated event that will feature many more internationally renowned brewers and judges. The contest, which has been held in Madrid in previous editions, includes new features in the awards, such as the special mention for the “Best Balearic craft brewery”. A special mention will also be awarded to “Professional Career”, decided by the specialized press. These are added to the already traditional “Best beer in its style”, “Best brewery” and “Revelation brewery”. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m., during the Beermad celebration in Madrid.

I Balearic Artisan Beer Fair of Can Picafort

At the same time that the tastings of the craft beers presented to the contest are carried out in Can Picafort, the 1st Balearic Craft Beer Fair will take place. This first edition will be held in a special open-air enclave where you can taste some of the Balearic craft beers submitted to the contest. It will be in the afternoons of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September. In addition, there will be the presence of food trucks to liven up the evening and that attendees can enjoy the varieties of Balearic craft beers with good food. An event that will be open to the public in a clearly defined area with limited capacity in compliance with the regulations established by the health authorities.
