Among the most serious incidents caused by the storm that have affected people are those that have occurred in Calvià where a man who had gone kayaking around the Malgrats islands was reported missing. Salvamento Marítimo managed to locate him safe and sound, after searching for him by sea and air.

In addition, two women were injured: one, who was pregnant, had a sign fall on her and cut her leg. Another woman had to be helped after hurting her ankle in Cala Fornells and was evacuated by ambulance. Both are already in their homes, as reported by the Calvianer consistory. Finally, on the beach of Illetas, Maritime Rescue, Local Police and Firefighters had to help a father and his two children who could not get out of the water.

Chaos in the airports of the islands

At the airports, the adverse weather has caused not only a slowdown in approach operations but also flight diversions, specifically in 119 flights at the airport of Son Sant Joan, so many passengers have been affected. In fact, hundreds of people have spent the night at Palma airport.

In the Paseo Marítimo de Palma at least four palm trees fell at different points that have obstructed one of the traffic lanes. As a precaution against the risk of new incidents with the trees, the City Council of Palma had to close several public spaces, the most significant of which are the crosswalks of the Paseo de Sagrera, the Molinar and the Castell de Bellver. During the day today the City Council is working to restore normality.

In the Port of Palma a critical moment was experienced when a cruise ship was unmoored by the gale and collided with an oil tanker, although fortunately no injuries were reported. The Maritime Station number 1 was devastated when the windows were blown out by a gust of gale-force wind.
