From today until November 12, comes the third edition of the festival to bring the best examples of architecture and design of the city, the Open House Palma 2023. It offers the opportunity to get to know buildings that normally remain hidden from the public: such as the Fundació Miró Mallorca, the Balearic Port Authority, the Balearic Parliament, the Consolat de Mar, Ca n’Oleo, the Palau del Consell or the Llotja.
Open House Palma 2023 is an appointment with plural and multidisciplinary architecture with the spirit of opening the city, architecture and heritage to all residents, social agents, technicians and professionals. The aim is to transversally involve local associations and groups to strengthen the social fabric and seek citizen participation.
More than 60 emblematic buildings and spaces of Palma open to the public
Divided into four zones, center, east, north and west, the appointment with the architecture of Ciutat opens the doors of more than 60 buildings in the city to be known in depth. The Parliament, the Seu, the Palau March, the Gran Hotel, the Misericòrdia, the Margalida Rigo Fire Station, the Fàbrica de Begudes Puig, the Centre Oceanogràfic de les Balears, the Portopí Lighthouse… are some of them.
It also offers different activities for the whole family that can be consulted in this link 💡
Its inauguration takes place on Monday at 17:30h with a show by Col-lectiu Güilis in the Plaça de la Porta des Camp for which prior registration is required. At 7 pm, Can Alcover hosts the opening ceremony which also requires prior registration.
Volunteers of Open House Palma 2023
The organization of the festival relies on volunteers interested in spreading the city’s heritage with all kinds of profiles: students, professionals, technicians, culture lovers, historians, older people and also young people.
The functions of the volunteers are to guide the visits to the interior of the buildings, organize the access queues or provide the attendees with practical information about the event.
In order to be able to allocate time, according to the availability of each volunteer, four time slots have been established: both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm. As a reward, volunteers will have priority access to all buildings during the days of the festival and will be invited to an exclusive party with many prizes.
One of the objectives of Open House Palma is to give citizens the opportunity to know for free inside these spaces, which are usually closed or hidden to the public.
The 3rd edition of the architecture festival will last for a week, between November 6 and 12, while the open house days to buildings will be limited to the weekend of November 11 and 12. The aim of the event is to show the best examples of architecture and design in Palma to the public.
