Flash mobs, brass bands, xeremiers (Mallorcan bagpipers) and circus parades will make their way through different streets and shopping areas in Palma as part of Viu Palma 2026, an initiative aimed at bringing the city to life and attracting people to small local businesses. The campaign will take place on 17, 18 and 19 September, with free roaming activities both in the city centre and other neighbourhoods.

Organised by PalmaActiva and PIMECO, Viu Palma. La Ciutat de les Compres (Live Palma. The Shopping City) aims to encourage people to shop at local businesses. The initiative seeks to support local commerce in Palma through a combination of culture, entertainment and shopping.

Three days of free activities in Palma

Viu Palma joins the free activities in Palma scheduled for the coming days. It also offers more options for anyone looking for things to do in Palma from 17 to 19 September, with performances to discover while exploring different shopping areas.

The campaign also joins this week’s calendar of events in Palma. Its programme offers a variety of things to do in the city without having to visit a specific venue, as all the performances will move through the streets.

The councillor for Commerce, Restaurants and the Self-Employed and president of PalmaActiva, Lupe Ferrer, highlighted that the initiative combines shopping, culture and entertainment. The aim is to encourage residents to explore the city’s neighbourhoods and support local businesses.

PIMECO president Carolina Domingo, meanwhile, said that Viu Palma aims to revitalise the city’s different shopping areas. The campaign therefore forms part of this week’s activities in Palma designed to attract more people to the streets.
