Residents of streets affected by the expansion of regulated parking zones in Palma will be able to apply from 16 September for the virtual permit that will allow them to park as residents once the new zones come into operation. The expansion is scheduled for 1 January 2027 and will affect streets in eight neighbourhoods across the city.
Not every street in these neighbourhoods will become part of the regulated parking system. Palma City Council therefore recommends checking the exact home address first before starting any application.
Which neighbourhoods will have new ORA zones in Palma?
The new ORA zones in Palma will be extended to certain streets in the following neighbourhoods:
- Foners
- Pere Garau Est
- Son Fortesa Sud
- Els Hostalets
- Son Oliva
- Plaça de Toros
- Camp Redó
- Bons Aires, on certain streets only
The inclusion of a neighbourhood in the expansion does not mean that all of its streets will have regulated parking.
How can I find out if my street is included?
Palma City Council has launched an address search tool to check the ORA zones in Palma and find out whether a specific address is included in the expansion.
Residents can check their address using the search tool provided by Mobilitat:
Only residents of streets included in the new zones will need to apply for the new permit.
When can residents apply for an ORA permit?
Applications open on Wednesday 16 September 2026. The new zones are expected to come into operation on 1 January 2027.
Palma City Council may adjust this timetable depending on how the processing of the new permits progresses.
How to apply for an ORA permit in Palma
The ORA resident permit will be entirely virtual. This means there will be no need to display a sticker on the vehicle: checks will be carried out automatically using the number plate.
There will be two ways to apply for an ORA permit in Palma:
- Online, through mobipalma.mobi.
- In person, at SMAP offices by appointment.
SMAP plans to increase its customer service capacity during the application period. If necessary, the service may be reinforced with up to 20 additional staff.
What are the requirements and what documents are needed?
To obtain the permit, applicants must:
- Be registered as a resident in the corresponding area.
- Be up to date with municipal tax payments.
- Have a valid DNI, NIE or passport.
- Provide the vehicle’s registration certificate.
- Have a valid driving licence.
How much does the permit cost?
The resident permit costs €24 per year.
Payment can be made by bank card or using a payment notice issued by Palma City Council.
What if I already have an ORA permit?
Residents who already have a permit for the existing ORA zone in Palma do not need to take any action at this stage.
Their permits will be renewed through the usual annual procedure, scheduled for November.
The expansion will, however, involve the reorganisation of some sectors. As a result, the assigned sector number may change for some residents. Palma City Council recommends checking the address using its search tool to find out which sector will correspond to each home.
People living on streets that are not included in the expansion will not need to take any action either.
What about non-resident drivers?
Drivers who do not live on the streets included in the new zones will still be able to park there under the usual ORA rules.
Payment must be made using the mobiAPParc app or at the parking meters installed on the street.
The expansion aims to increase vehicle turnover and improve parking availability for residents, businesses, errands and visitors. Alongside the changes, Palma City Council will also gradually update the ORA branding on parking meters and other signage.
