From today, 12 February, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Mallorca opens to the public the exhibition Retrobar Miró. La guspira màgica (Re-encountering Miró. The Magic Spark), a proposal that can be visited until 17 January 2027 and invites visitors into the most intimate and personal universe of Joan Miró.
The exhibition, installed in the Espai Estrella, brings together close to 250 pieces and offers a different perspective on the artist’s creative process, exploring how objects, materials and seemingly simple elements became triggers for his work.
The exhibition also has points of connection with the exhibition proposal included in the programme of Paysage Miró, considered the most ambitious cultural undertaking developed in the Balearic Islands around the figure of the artist.
A journey through Miró’s creative spark
The exhibition revolves around the concept of re-encounter, understood as an essential driving force in Miró’s artistic process. Under the idea of the “guspires màgiques”, visitors can see the elements that fed his imagination: found objects, discarded materials, natural forms and fragments of everyday life.
Rather than focusing solely on finished works, the proposal highlights the dialogue between the artist and his surroundings, showing how Miró turned the ordinary into the extraordinary.
More than 250 pieces in Retrobar Miró. La guspira màgica
The exhibition stands out for its diversity and richness:
- 65 paintings and drawings
- 15 sculptures and sculpture maquettes
- 111 documents and photographs
- 70 objects
- 4 videos
This multidisciplinary approach makes it possible to understand not only the artist’s aesthetic evolution, but also his personal universe, his visual obsessions and his constant experimentation.
The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of leading institutions such as the MNAC, the Fundación Juan March, Successió Miró, Es Baluard Museu and the Fundació Mas Miró, as well as private lenders such as Alejandro Villalba.

The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Javier Bonet, says the exhibition offers “many points of interest for the millions of admirers of an incomparable creator who, to the pride and satisfaction of Palma, chose to live and work in our city”.
Bonet also underlines that the initiative “is another step on the path towards cultural excellence that Palma has embarked on in this term of office, and which fully supports its bid to be designated European Capital of Culture 2031. In this context, which is transforming Palma into one of the international epicentres of art and creativity, Joan Miró is an indispensable reference, as is the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Mallorca through the extraordinary work it is carrying out to preserve and disseminate the work of the great universal master”.
The exhibition is therefore shaping up to be one of the major cultural highlights of the year in Mallorca.
