The exhibition Paysage Miró, the largest exhibition project ever devoted to Joan Miró, has closed its doors with a total of more than 340,000 visitors across all its venues. This figure confirms the success of an unprecedented initiative and positions Palma and the Balearic Islands as a cultural benchmark of international standing.
Beyond its artistic dimension, Paysage Miró has achieved significant international media coverage, with an estimated media return of €320 million, understood as the advertising-value equivalent of the visibility generated in leading media outlets worldwide.
Paysage Miró, an unprecedented exhibition in Mallorca
The project ran for six months and, for the first time, brought together Miró’s work simultaneously across several of Palma’s landmark venues. The exhibition La força inicial, staged at La Llotja in Palma, was the last to close, bringing the programme to a conclusion and turning the city into a living map of the artist’s creative universe.

The scale of Paysage Miró was made possible thanks to an unprecedented collaboration between the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Ajuntament de Palma, the Consell Insular de Mallorca, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Es Baluard Museu and the Casal Solleric, with the participation of the Miró Estate and Galería Pelaires. This joint effort has offered the public a unique, coherent journey through the artist’s work. More information at this link.
Joan Miró’s legacy and his link to the Balearic Islands
The President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, has stressed that Miró’s legacy “is more alive than ever in the Balearic Islands and throughout the world”. With the closing of Paysage Miró, the archipelago reaffirms its commitment to cultural excellence, institutional collaboration and the international projection of its artistic heritage, leaving a legacy that goes far beyond the figures.
