The Consell de Mallorca has confirmed the removal of more than 2,300 listings hosted on the Airbnb platform that did not have a tourist registration number. These are the first results of the second phase of the agreement signed between the island institution and the company, which is leading to the withdrawal of thousands of irregular listings from the website.

These removals represent a decisive step in the collaboration between both parties to combat illegal holiday rentals on the island. Airbnb maintains its commitment to deactivate any listing that does not include the mandatory registration number issued by the Consell de Mallorca.

In this way, the company is complying with the agreement reached with the island institution and has carried out a “firm and unprecedented” action to ensure that the online tourism offer operates legally and remains compatible with the protection of the territory and the quality of life of local residents.

The Minister for Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, expressed his satisfaction and stated that “this is the definitive step towards eradicating it — there will be no truce. This agreement with Airbnb is already bearing fruit and proves that public–private collaboration is the way forward to protect our tourism model, ensure compliance with regulations, and continue strengthening the quality of life of all Mallorca residents.”

Rodríguez also added that “the removal of unlicensed listings is a decisive action that reinforces our goal of promoting harmony on our island, for the benefit of the local community and all platform users.”
