The marketing of quality wines from the Balearic Islands has increased by 36% in 2021 compared to the 2020 data. Therefore, it has recovered its pre-pandemic rate. Wines with Designation of Origin (DO), Binissalem and Pla i Llevant, have increased sales by 49% compared to 2020, while Vi de la Terra (Mallorca, Illes Balears, Serra de Tramuntana, Eivissa, Illa de Menorca and Formentera) have done so by 30%.

In relation to the data published to date on Spanish quality wines, the DO Rioja has increased sales by 8.3%, and the DO Jerez, by 13%. By type of wine, although the best-selling wine is black, with 22,977 hectoliters, and an increase of 31% more than in 2020, the sales of wine that have increased the most compared to 2020 are rosé, with 43% and white, with 40%.

The concentration of sales is located in the local market with 78% of the total and has increased by 46% compared to 2020. Sales to the Spanish market are testimonial, they represent 3% of the total, despite the fact that they have increased by 6 % compared to 2020.

Finally, the foreign market, which represents 19% of the total, has grown by 9% compared to 2020 and exceeds sales figures for 2019. The main quality wine export country is Germany, with 512 thousand liters, which represents a 57% of exports, with an annual increase of 19%.
