The local gastronomy of the Balearic Islands, with ‘llonguet’ as its flagship, is the star of a new edition of its fair on Sunday the 30th of April in Es Pil·larí, Palma

The ‘Fira del Llonguet’ (‘Llonguet’ Fair) is a unique opportunity to sample a typical type of bread roll from Palma, the ‘llonguet’. Five Mallorcan artisan bakeries display them stuffed with a variety of sausages, such as sobrasada, cheese, anchovies and prawns. There will also be seven food trucks, two craft beer stalls, a craft distillery and around fifty craft stalls. The Fair is complemented by performances by ‘xeremiers’, shows, children’s workshops, a children’s play area and street artists.

This exhibition, which has a strong traditional and artisan character, was born as a neighbourhood initiative and has already become consolidated in the calendar of fairs in the city. Up to 15,000 people are expected to attend over the course of the day, which is why the council has declared it to be of municipal public interest, so that it can provide the municipal services necessary for it to be held properly.

Traffic restrictions during the weekend

Organised by the Asociación de vecinos d’Es Pil-larí, with the collaboration of Palma City Council and the ‘Asociación de Pasteleros y Panaderos de las Illes Balears’ (Association of Confectioners and Bakers of the Balearic Islands), it is held between 9 am and 6 pm.

The ‘Fira del Llonguet’ has 700 linear metres distributed in a circular route and runs along the streets Muntanya, Roncal, Martina Pascual, Josep Tomàs i Rentería and Sor Damiana, which will be closed to traffic this weekend.

The forecast is that there will be around 70 sales, displays or exhibitions in which the traditional bread of the city will be the protagonist, as well as local and km 0 products.

To facilitate access, 11,000 square metres have been set aside for vehicle parking in three park-and-ride lots. In addition, line 31 of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT), which usually connects this area of the city, will be more frequent (it will run every 20 minutes), to facilitate the arrival of all those who decide to travel using public transport.
