The Son Gibert car park will be the meeting point for the Bicipalma Fest on Sunday 19th March where people can test new bicycles
This Sunday, 19th March, Bicipalma has organised the Bicipalma Fest. It is a festive event that will start at the Son Gibert car park at 10 am and will feature a series of activities to test both electric and mechanical bicycles of the new Bicipalma. The circuit is aimed at anyone over the age of 16.
Family activities
At the same time, a series of family activities have been organised in the same space:
- Bouncy castle.
- Local Police road safety circuit.
- EMAYA recycling information tent.
- Visits to EMT buses with the presence of the Museubus and activities to decorate the bus with 8M vinyl, as well as open doors to the new electric and green hydrogen buses.
Popular route
The Bicipalma Fest has also brought together different members of Palma’s civil society, such as artists, neighbourhood representatives and representatives of different organisations and the educational world. Together, they will be taking part in a two-kilometre route that will symbolically cross the Via de Cintura from Parc de l’Esperança.
Bicipalma: 52 stations and 6,340 users
The Bicipalma network has 52 operational stations in different parts of Palma. The number of Bicipalma users has already tripled in one month, since its renewal on 29th December, and the new service now reaches 6,340 people.
Gradually, up to 930 new bicycles will be incorporated, of which 270 are electric and 660 are mechanical. The electric bicycles have a range of between 60 and 80 kilometres and are powered by an intelligent battery system that optimises their use and provides support when starting the bicycle.
The aim is to reach beyond the ring road and cover densely populated neighbourhoods in order to reduce the use of private vehicles.
