From today, readers can buy the spring-summer edition of Mallorca Global Mag at their nearest newsagent’s. The issue is packed with well-known voices from the island, but also from abroad. This is the case of the Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, nominated for the Oscars for “The Triangle of Sadness” – his latest production – and appointed President of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival. From his home in Campos, Östlund opens up to the Mallorca Global team about his career and aspirations. Susy Gómez does the same in the art world in a candid interview with the director of the magazine, José Eduardo Iglesias, in which the artist explains how she deals with the death of her partner, the gallery owner and hotelier Juan Antonio Horrach, as well as the soul of her project “Gest contra l’oblid”, which can be visited in Es Baluard.

The pages of Mallorca Global Mag also feature writer Agustín Fernández Mallo, winner of the Eugenio Trías Prize for “La forma de la multitud”, an essay in which the writer from A Coruña reviews all forms of capitalism. For her part, the stylist Chufy, a fashion icon and one of the most respected designers among celebrities, tells how she finds inspiration in Mallorca, where she has found the best environment for raising her daughter after her time in New York. Leonor Vich, a member of the third generation of Can Joan de s’Aigo, also explains the secret of continuing to serve ensaimadas, cuartos and ice cream 323 years after the family business was founded.

Other voices that make their way into this edition to analyse, among many other issues, the explosion of artificial intelligence or the island’s economic-tourism model, are those of the writers Camilo J. Cela Conde, Margalida Gili, Aleix Calveras, Eduardo Jordá, Carlos García-Delgado, Andreu Palou, Bartomeu Bestard and José Eduardo Iglesias.

Mallorca Global Mag spring-summer 2023 follows the opening of a 5-star hotel in Playa de Muro, tackles mental health problems in young people and accompanies the security forces in their rescues in the Serra de Tramuntana, before giving some testimonials from travellers who choose solo getaways as a form of leisure, a growing trend.

In the field of sport, a group of hikers tell readers how “Sa Travessa” allows them to cross the iconic Serra de Tramuntana mountain range on foot from one end to the other, and the athlete Joan Pere Carbonell relives his victory in the Antarctic Ice Marathon 2022.

A special supplement on sustainability (Baleares Green Experience), a guide to restaurants and wines and the latest trends for women, men and young people, as well as a report on the musical boom the island is experiencing, with a multitude of festivals scheduled, complete the 126 pages which, unsurprisingly, include a selection of art exhibitions for the coming months in the most representative galleries and recommended readings by the city’s established bookshops.

Complaints sheet, a new feature

For the first time, the new publication includes Complaints Sheet, a section for reflecting the most common citizen complaints and denunciations, which is open to the entire population. Readers can contact this section by sending an e-mail to hola@mallorcaglobalmag.es.
