Sont San Joan airport is positioned in October as one of the main in Europe with the most air traffic, as reported by Eurocontrol, the continental agency for the safety of air navigation. Last week 622 flights crossed the Mallorcan sky, 15% less compared to the same date in 2019.
Mallorca airport currently ranks tenth and third in Spain, behind Barajas (6), in Madrid, and El Prat (9), in Barcelona.
The agency, chaired by Eamonn Brennan, reported that Schiphol (Amsterdam) airport is in the first position with 1,081 flights.
The complete list of the top 10 is as follows: Amsterdam (1061), IGA Istanbul (989), Frankfurt (973), Paris Charles de Gaulle (848), London Heathrow (786), Madrid (758), Antalya (716) , Munich (673), Barcelona (650) and Mallorca (622).
All airports suffered a reduction in flights, compared to the same month of 2019. The steepest drops have been suffered by Munich (44%), London (42%) and Paris (41%).
