Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) is strengthening its regular timetable from Thursday 13th March with new train and metro services during working hours. This increase will improve connections between Palma and Inca and the metro line to the UIB, expanding capacity by 3,500 seats during peak hours. These reinforcements continue the improvements implemented in 2023 and are part of a progressive plan to increase frequencies and special services.
🚆 New Train Services
- 3 new trains in the daily timetable (Monday to Friday).
- Added times:
- Inca-Palma: 6:08 am and 6:38 am.
- Palma-Inca: 6:00 am.
- Impact:
- The first train from Inca is brought forward by 10 minutes, now arriving at the Intermodal station at 6:42 am.
- The Inca-Palma train at 6:38 am will relieve the heavily occupied Manacor-Palma train at 6:16 am.
- Increase of 1,000 seats in the peak-hour service capacity.
🚇 Reinforcement on the Metro to UIB
- New services in the high-demand period (13:35 pm – 14:35 pm).
- Modified times:
- Intermodal-UIB:
- The 13:55 pm metro is brought forward to 13:50 pm.
- An additional metro service is introduced at 14:00 pm.
- UIB-Intermodal:
- The 14:15 pm metro is brought forward to 14:10 pm.
- An additional metro service is introduced at 14:20 pm.
- Intermodal-UIB:
- Impact:
- An additional 840 seats are added during this time period.
- The reinforcement introduced in September is maintained with 4 extra services in the morning (7:15 am – 9:15 am).
- Total increase of 2,500 seats on the metro.
🚉 Introduction of New Trains
- Since 5th March, the new trains purchased by SFM are already operating on the Sa Pobla line with 8 daily services.
- 2 quad units have already been operating on the metro since September.
- Another 3 units have started operating on the train network.
- Total: 5 new trains that completed testing in December and whose drivers have received practical and theoretical training.
