With the arrival of the summer season 2024, the public transport network in Mallorca is preparing to welcome residents and visitors with a wider range of services and extended timetables. The Transports de les Illes Balears (TIB) intercity bus network is bringing forward its summer season to 22 March 2024. To this end, it has announced a series of improvements and new features that seek to meet mobility needs and contribute to boosting tourism on the island.
What’s new in public transport in Mallorca 2024
The arrival of spring has brought important changes to public transport in Mallorca in 2024. New TIB routes and timetables for summer 2024 such as the following.
- New bus line that will connect Santa Ponça with Banyalbufar. It will pass through Peguera, Camp de Mar, Andratx, Estellencs and La Granja de Esporles. This new route, called L131, will make it possible to travel the entire Serra de Tramuntana by public transport. This will connect lines 231 (between Port de Pollença and Sóller), 203 (between Sóller and s’Esgleieta), 202 (between s’Esgleieta – Canet – and Estellencs) and 131 (between Estellencs and Andratx).
- Improvements to a total of 24 bus lines, with an increase in frequency and extension of timetables.
- A further 11 specific lines are resumed for the high season, including connections to the airport.
TIB routes with Palma airport
Start of the Aerotib lines with the longest service.
- A11 Camp de Mar – Airport.
- A32 Can Picafort – Airport.
- A42 Cala Bona – Airport.
- A51 Campos – Airport.
Start of summer lines
- 231 Alcúdia – Port of Sóller.
- 315 Sa Pobla – Alcúdia Bay.
- 422 Cala Mesquida – Cala Rajada.
- 423 Font de sa Cala – Cala Rajada.
- 424 Cala Rajada – Porto Cristo.
- 427 Cala Mendia – Porto Cristo.
- 505 Cala Pi – Palma.
Palma-Palmanova-Magaluf Lines
- Palmanova and Magaluf (line 104). Average service every 12-15 minutes in each direction. Reinforces the service at the end of the day. Departures until 1:00 from each terminus. Improved service for workers in this area.
- Improved service in the tourist area of Costa de la Calma, which will almost double its connectivity with Palma and Santa Ponça, with a new frequency of 25 minutes.
Public transport in the north of Mallorca
- Suburban line 324, Alcúdia – Can Picafort: will reinforce the offer for the last hour of the day. Stable frequency of 12-13 minutes.
- Line 321, which serves the centre of Cala de Sant Vicenç, will bring forward the daily start time to 7:10 am. The aim is to adapt to early morning commuting.
- Alcúdia Bay corridor. Doubling of the service:
- Line 315: towards Muro and south of sa Pobla, with extended hours (6:05 to 0:20).
- Line 302: to the north of sa Pobla, Inca and Palma. Frequency every 20 minutes and timetable until 0:30 at night.
Buses in the Llevant and Migjorn area
- Line 416 (Cales de Mallorca) has been increased by 50%.
- The Campos-Palma express services of line 501 are extended to all day, to support the increased activity of shuttle lines 515 (Cala d’Or) and 517 (Colònia de Sant Jordi), which also increase their level of supply.
- The current on-demand services from sa Ràpita (to Campos) and Cala Pi will be converted into regular lines, with a higher level of service.
