The programme of the Orquesta Sinfónica Balears 2022-2023 has been presented under the name Kaleidoscopio Sonoro, una gran diversidad sonora en un solo cuerpo sonoro” (Kaleidoscope of Sound, a great diversity of sound in a single body of sound). The season, which runs from September to May, includes a hundred performances on the islands. It is also notable for the participation of artists from the archipelago.

The two subscription cycles will offer a total of 17 concerts. Nine of them will be in the Palma Auditorium and eight in the Trui Teatre. The rest correspond to projects in the cycles “Islas Sonoras”, “#SonamPerTu”, “Escolares” and the premiere of the opera produced by the orchestra and dedicated to the archduke Luís Salvador.

Opening of the Symphony Orchestra’s season in 2022

The programme of the Orquesta Sinfónica Balears 2022-2023 will be inaugurated on the 29th of September, in the Trui Teatre. It will feature pianist Barbara Moser and cellist Alexey Stadler, conducted by Joji Hattori. They will perform Three Film Scores by Toru Takemitsu; Concerto for violin, cello and piano, op. 56 by Ludwig van Beethoven and Symphony No. 1 in C minor, op. 68 by Johannes Brahms.

The closing concert is scheduled for the 18th of May, in the Auditorium of Palma, with Gustav Mahler’s Song of the Earth. This performance features artists such as baritone Dietrich Henschel and tenor Steven Davislim.

The performances in the Palma Auditorium will feature island artists

  • Violinist Francisco Fullana will perform Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1 on the 12th of January.
  • Guitarist Gabriel Estarellas will appear on 15th December with the premiere of Joan Valent’s Concerto for guitar and orchestra.
  • The Coral Universitat Illes Balears and the Blauets de Lluc will perform Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana on 6th October.
  • The premiere of Revelaciones by Mercè Pons is scheduled for the 9th of March.

The season’s programme also includes a series of internationally renowned artists. These include violinist Alexandra Conucova; pianist Nicolas Bringuier; sopranos Lisa Larsson, Serafina Starke, Flore van Meerssche, Amparo Navarro and Maria Sardaryan; tenors Simon Yang, Joaquín Asiain and Steven Davislim; baritones Günter Haumer and Dietrich Henschel, bass Gabrielle Rollinson, pianists Barbara Moser, Kit Armstrong and Alba Ventura; violinists Joji Hattori and Alexey Stadler and cellist Pablo Ferrández. They will perform pieces by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Mahler, Stravinsky, Brahms, Ravel, Schumann, Bruckner, Wagner and Prokofiev, among others.

Season tickets for the 2022 Symphony Orchestra season

The prices of the season tickets for the Orquesta Sinfónica Balears 2022-2023 programme will be 225 euros (Palma Auditorium season) and 160 euros (Trui Teatre season). Individual tickets will cost €35 (Palma Auditorium) and €30 (Trui Teatre). Season tickets for the Auditorium will go on sale on the 29th of August (old subscribers); from the 15th of September (new subscribers) and individual tickets from the 28th of September. Season tickets for the Trui Teatre cycle will go on sale from 1 September and individual tickets from 12 September. Subscriptions and tickets will be on sale at the box offices of the respective venues.
