This Sunday, 24th November, Palma will host the sixth edition of the Nordic Walking Equality March – Ciutat de Palma, an inclusive event suitable for all ages and physical abilities. Organised by the Institut Municipal de l’Esport (IME) of the Ajuntament de Palma, the activity is part of the PalmaDona programme, which promotes equality and sports.
The march will start at 11:00 a.m. from Plaza de Cort and will end at Balneario 13 of Playa de Palma. Participants can choose from three routes adapted to different levels and distances:
- 3.5 kilometres to Es Molinar Beach.
- 7 kilometres to Sant Joan de Déu – Es Carnatge.
- 11 kilometres to Balneario 13.
Free registration and participant benefits
Registration is completely free and can be done via the website elitechip or in person on the same day, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., at Plaza de Santa Eulàlia.
So far, more than 600 people have registered, and organisers expect to exceed 1,000 participants. All registered attendees will receive a sticker bib, a commemorative gymsack, and a reusable water bottle. Additionally, thanks to the collaboration of MercaPalma, a healthy snack will be offered at the end of the route.
Free transport and complementary activities for the Nordic Walking Equality March
Palma’s EMT will facilitate travel to the event by offering free transport on lines 3, 7, 20, 25, and 35 to those presenting their bib or registration. At the end of the march, attendees can enjoy a session of stretching led by Nordic walking experts.
Promoting values such as equity and equal opportunities
The first deputy mayor and councillor for Culture and Sports, Javier Bonet, expressed his gratitude to all the organisations and sponsors involved, inviting the public to join this free march, which he described as an opportunity to “raise awareness, visibility, and reflect on the progress made in equality and the challenges that remain ahead.”
Similarly, the councillor for Equality, Lourdes Roca, praised the march as “an example of how sports can serve as a tool to promote essential values such as equity and equal opportunities.”
