Palma City Council presented the security operation for the summer of 2022, which will focus from May to October with an increase in the police presence of 120 agents in the areas with the highest tourist influx.

The main functions of the operational agents will be to combat everything that involves violation of municipal ordinances and that is related to tourist activity (illegal massages, illegal street vending, dynamic advertising outside the regulations, noise pollution, excessive consumption of alcohol, the bottles).

Likewise, they will provide security with a uniformed presence at the main points of influx of tourism: Playa de Palma, Centro, Cala Mayor. They will also control the occupation of public roads and the proper use of space and coexistence.

The duration of this reinforcement is from May 2 to October 23, 2022, although this is subject to possible changes due to the health situation caused by COVID-19. An interrupted service will be provided from 10:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m. hours of the next day.

The mayor of Palma, José Hila, has highlighted that the framework police device for the summer of 2022 will ensure that Palma continues to be a safe city and destination. In addition, it should be remembered that the tender for Private Security personnel is still underway and that the call for the interim pool with 56 places is pending to make the most of public resources. “We are once again prepared to give the best response to both citizens and tourists who visit our city,” he said.

Likewise, facing the high season, the members of the 2018-2019 promotion, which offered 101 Local Police positions, will have already finished their practices and will be working as career officials.
