The Son Muntaner Golf Club will host the DP World Tour Mallorca Golf Open from 20 to 23 October 2022. A sporting event with a powerful line-up of participating players that promises to delight golf fans. A tournament that coincides with the end of the so-called “Spanish Swing”, which includes three DP World Tour events in Spain. It is also the last competition of the regular DP World Tour 2022 golfing calendar. Thus, top players will have in the Mallorca Golf Open 2022 the last chance to qualify in the top 60 of the Race to Dubai ranking or defend their place in the top 60. And the golf elite will fight in Mallorca for a prize of 1.75 million euros.
An all-star Mallorca Golf Open
In mid-October, Mallorca will welcome the great stars of national and international golf for the eighth time. Just as Severiano Ballesteros did three decades ago, when he won the championship on the Son Vida course. For his part, the Dane Jeff Winther, last year’s winner, will defend his title in the tournament.
The Mallorca Golf Open 2022 is an event that has the support and encouragement of local public institutions. Present at the presentation were Francesc Mateu, director of the Balearic Islands Strategic Tourism Agency (AETIB); Miguel Pastor, director of the Mallorca Tourism Foundation of the Consell de Mallorca; Elena Navarro, councillor for Tourism of Palma City Council, and Pedro Homar, director of the Palma 365 Foundation.
Bernardino Jaume, president of the Balearic Golf Federation, declared how lucky we are “to have on the island a paradise for golf enthusiasts in which we have more than 23 golf courses and more than 8,100 members. Having a tournament of these characteristics is the finishing touch to all the work we have been doing in recent years and which positions us internationally as a golf destination”.
