It will be at the Extraordinary General Assembly scheduled for this morning in Madrid, at noon, when Luis Rubiales will present his resignation as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation after the controversy over the non-consensual kiss to Hermoso during the celebration of the Women’s World Cup

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, will present his resignation today, Friday, during the Extraordinary General Assembly scheduled at 12.00 noon in Las Rozas, Madrid. The president of the Balearic Islands Football Federation, Pep Sansó, and the president of Collerense, Tolo Verd, are traveling to Madrid this morning to participate in the Assembly.

Rubiales’ resignation comes after the controversy caused by kissing without consent the player Jenni Hermoso at the trophy ceremony of the recent Women’s World Cup. After numerous pressures on the RFEF president calling for his resignation, and his subsequent apologies in a controversial video, Rubiales will end his tenure today.

The latest setback that has forced Rubiales to voluntarily resign from his post was the opening of disciplinary proceedings by FIFA on Thursday, motivated by his non-consensual kiss to Jennifer Hermoso and his obscene gestures in the box during the celebrations for the Women’s World Cup.

The statutes of the federation foresee that a manager will be in charge of the control of the federation until new elections are held in 2024.
