The Councillors for Tourism of the Balearic Government and the Consell de Mallorca, Jaume Bauzà and José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, respectively, held a first meeting on Tuesday with the assemblies of the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM) and the Association of Hotel Chains (ACH) of the Balearic Islands.
During the meeting, the assemblies were presented with the lines of work that the Government and the Consell will carry out jointly and in a coordinated manner throughout this legislature, as well as the importance of effective public-private collaboration that will enable common goals to be achieved over the next four years.
The welcome was given by María Frontera, president of FEHM, who recalled the transformation process that repositioned the sector, “moving from volume to value”. In reference to the new Tourism Law announced by the Government, Frontera said that “after more than 3,000 million euros invested, we demand a regulatory instrument from the administration that allows for continuous improvement”.
Along these lines, Minister Bauzà assured that the reform of the new Tourism Law “will undoubtedly be a model for other communities”. At the beginning of September, they assured that a technical commission will be set up “in which professionals from the sector will contribute their privileged vision to the work plan”.
For his part, the island’s councillor for Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, stressed the importance of public-private and public-public collaboration, with the aim of promoting a legislative text that can include all the sensitivities and demands of the sector, both business and institutional.
