As bestas’ won the Goya for best film, with nine awards in total. Best director for Rodrigo Sorogoyen, best leading actor for Denis Ménochet, supporting actor for Luiz Zahera and best original screenplay. It is followed, with five awards, by the film ‘Modelo 77’. Where to watch the winning films of the Goya Awards 2023

‘As Bestas’ was released on 11 November 2022, but the rural western by the director from Madrid will continue to be screened in cinemas for a few more weeks after its undeniable success. The same will happen with the rest of the award-winning films, so be sure to keep an eye on your nearest cinema.

‘Unicorn Wars’ can be seen on Movistar+. It is an irreverent satire by Alberto Vázquez in which a bear army indoctrinates young recruits for the war they wage against unicorns. It has been crowned Best Animated Film at the Goya Awards 2023. The award for Best Documentary Film went to ‘Argentina, 1985’, which can be seen on Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by the trial that changed history in the hands of Ricardo Darín and Peter Lanzani. It’s a stifling thriller in a David vs. Goliath struggle in a convulsive era starring the top brass of Argentina’s bloody military dictatorship.

Norwegian comedy-drama ‘The Worst Person in the World’ was the big surprise of the season. Winner of the Best European Film Award, it can be found on Movistar+. And yes, “Short Film is Cinema”. ‘Emotional Architecture 1959’ (Best Fiction Short Film), ‘Maldita. A Love Song to Sarajevo’ (Best Documentary Short Film) and ‘Loop’ (Best Animated Short Film) can also be seen on different platforms: Movistar+ and UniKo’s YouTube channel. Filmin offers you some award-winning and other nominated titles such as ‘El agua’, ‘Un año, una noche’, ‘Cinco lobitos’, ‘1976’, ‘En los márgenes’, ‘Girasoles silvestres’, ‘Alcarràs’, ‘Cerdita’, ‘As Bestas’, ‘La maternal’, ‘Suro’ and ‘Mantícora’.
