Name: Marcel Remus.

From: Germany.

In Mallorca: Seventeen years.

Marcel Remus first came to Mallorca when he was one year old on a family holiday in Sa Coma. In 2006 he emigrated from Nuremberg thanks to his work as a horse trainer and show jockey. Famous on TV in Germany, Switzerland and Austria for the last ten years presenting luxury real estate in Mallorca, he stars in his own reality show: Mallorca’s Real Estate Agent. Last year he sold the most expensive villa in Son Vida for almost 20 million euros with 2100 m2 to a client from Munich. Joan Collins and Elizabeth Hurley are among the many celebrities he attracts to the island with his traditional summer parties.

 

Name: Verónica Traynor.

From: Argentina.

In Mallorca: One and a half years.

Ocupation: Employee experience and well-being at work.

 

Verónica lived two years in Mexico and two in England, where her son was born. She came to Palma with her Spanish-German partner: “We needed the sea, the calm, the green, to be able to take my son to school, him on a bike and me on a skateboard. “I love it because here we can maintain the lifestyle we had in Holbox, an island without cars. In Mallorca there are more colours and the air is purer,” she says.

Name: Eszter Kiss.

From: Hungary.

In Mallorca: Twelve years.

Ocupation: Web developer.

Eszter Kiss finished university and travelled from Budapest to Alcúdia to work in tourism. “I didn’t even know where Mallorca was, for me Spain was very exotic. Now she lives in Inca and works in Palma in a coworking space. She has had her partner, a Mallorcan, for eight years: “Poc a poc I practise my Catalan”, she explains. She loves the island’s nature.

Name: Benedikt Gans.

From: Germany.

In Mallorca: Six years.

Ocupation: Worked on boats and yachts.

Benedikt Gans came to Mallorca six years ago to work in a sector that attracts hundreds of people: the nautical sector. He lives in Palma. He loves it because he has everything close at hand: “It’s a city, but it’s not very big, it’s like living in a pueblo” (a word he pronounces in Spanish). About the island, he loves its mountains, its beautiful landscapes and the sea.

Jim Drabbe.

From: Netherlands.

In Mallorca: Nineteen years.

Ocupation: Founder and director of Cómodo&Co coworking.

Jim Drabbe set foot on the island for the first time with his family, after selling a business and with the idea of staying for only three or four years. “When we arrived, we lived in the countryside, in Es Llombards (Santanyí). We love the sea and the calmer life on the island. “Mallorca is my home,” he says with a smile.

From: Naples, Italy.

In Mallorca: Two and a half years.

Ocupation: Freelancer digital marketing.

Gennaro Savanelli fell in love with Mallorca on a summer trip. After the pandemic, he thought about coming: “It seemed like an interesting place to live and explore. My idea was to stay for six months and I’m still here after two and a half years. He was attracted by the beaches, the climate, the tranquillity of the people and the island and its outdoor plans.
