Once again, the prestigious Forbes magazine has published its much-anticipated list of the richest people in Spain. Among the top 100 fortunes in the country, seven representatives from the Balearic Islands stand out, with Miguel Fluxà at the forefront. The new feature in this edition is the absence of Adolfo Utor, president of Baleària, who dropped from the list after holding the 91st position the previous year.
Balearic Fortunes on the Forbes List
Miguel Fluxà Rosselló, executive chairman of the Iberostar Group, once again stands as the wealthiest Balearic Islander in Spain. According to Forbes, his fortune amounts to 2 billion euros (-€600M compared to 2023), placing him 16th nationally. Fluxà has dropped five positions from the previous year.
The second richest Balearic Islanders are, once again, Simón Pedro Barceló, owner of Barceló Hotels, and family, with a net worth of 1.6 billion euros (unchanged from 2023). They have dropped one position in the national ranking compared to last year, now occupying the 21st spot.
The siblings Carmen and Luis Riu Güell, owners of the RIU Group, hold steady in the third position among Balearic fortunes, appearing in 38th place on the Forbes list of Spain’s richest— the same as in 2023—with a fortune valued at 1.2 billion euros (+€850M).
In fourth position among the Balearic Islands’ wealthiest is Gabriel Escarrer, founder of Meliá Hotels, and family, with a total of 1.1 billion euros (+€380M). The excellent performance of the company throughout this year has allowed them to climb ten places in the national ranking to 41st on the Forbes list.
Carlos March Delgado and Juan March Delgado, shareholders of Corporación Financiera Alba, also remain on the list. Carlos March Delgado ranks 43rd with a fortune of 1.1 billion euros (+€170M), while Juan March Delgado ranks 44th with an equal fortune of 1.1 billion euros (+€150M). However, Carlos and Juan March have fallen three and five positions, respectively, from the previous year when they held 40th and 39th places.
The president of Grupo Piñero, Isabel García Lorca, continues to climb the ranks, now reaching the 71st position nationally, a rise of two positions compared to 2023. Her net worth stands at 600 million euros (+€100M).
According to Forbes, the list of the richest in Spain is based on “a thorough study of the market value of companies and wealth assets, cash, investments, and real estate.” The magazine also notes how in 2024 the fortunes of the wealthiest have generally grown across Spain, with a 27.7% increase in their wealth.
