On the 1st and 2nd of April a new edition, the 39th, of the traditional Fira d’Andratx takes place with its popular Tapas Route and Gastronomic Day, as well as a livestock show and equestrian exhibition
As in previous editions, crafts, livestock and industry return once again this year to the Fira d’Andratx, which is held on the 1st and 2nd of April. The fair, which dates back to 1984, is a showcase for the popular character and the livestock and agricultural tradition of the Mallorcan town. The Son Mas castle and the town’s promenade are the setting for a sheep, hen and domestic animal show, as well as a special tapas route and a gastronomic fair. Visitors can also enjoy a craft market in the gardens of the Town Hall and the adjacent streets, as well as performances by folklore groups, equestrian exhibitions and “cercaviles” (parades).
Tapas Route and Gastronomic Day
This year, 14 establishments are taking part in the “XIV Recorregut de la Tapa” (14th Tapas Route), and another 17 are located in the marquee in the town’s Plaça Espanya. The route offers a wide variety of typical Mediterranean dishes, as well as “panades”, sobrasada and other traditional sausages from the island accompanied by local wine.
As for the “X Jornada Gastronòmica”, which takes place in the Passeig de Son Mas, 20 establishments can be visited.
Programme and how to get there
The Andratx Town Hall has made the programme of the event available to the public on its website. As well as directions on how to find the best route so as not to miss this traditional date with Mallorcan tradition.
