The Consell de Mallorca and the Ajuntament de Palma have inaugurated the works for the duplication of the Camí dels Reis and the reformation of the roundabout for access to Génova from the Vía de Cintura, near the Jaume II barracks. This joint action had a budget of 2.6 million euros. It is expected to improve access to Palma and the school area. It includes bike lanes and two-way access to the roundabout, which has been embellished with landscaping.

The Ajuntament de Palma executed the duplication of the Camí dels Reis with funding from the Consell de Mallorca through the Capital Law. Meanwhile, the reformation of the roundabout was managed by the island’s department of Infrastructure.

The duplication road, 1.2 kilometres long, includes a bike lane, pedestrian walkway, new lighting, trees, and landscaping. The road, 6.80 metres wide, has been designed to limit the speed to 50 km/h, with mixed safety barriers and wooden railings in hazardous pedestrian areas. The reformation of the roundabout involved excavation, filling, vegetation pruning, and the installation of anti-weed mesh and decorative stone. This way, maintenance is reduced to occasional cleanings two or three times a year.
