FIET 2022, the Balearic Children’s and Young People’s Theatre Fair, will be held in Vilafranca de Bonany from 13 to 16 October. It is one of the most important children’s and young people’s theatre fairs in Spain. In fact, this year the FIET has received the National Award for the Performing Arts for Children.
A more than consolidated event that this year reaches its 20th edition. In the years prior to the pandemic, the municipality of Vilafranca received almost 20,000 spectators to attend this Fira del Teatro Infantil y Juvenil. The aim was to enjoy quality theatre for all audiences, both from island companies and from the rest of the country, including international ones. Tickets for each show, wide and varied, are sold at affordable prices.
Despite having received the National Award for Performing Arts for Children, FIET 2022 has only recently been confirmed. The association Xerxa de teatre infantil i juvenil de les Illes Balears launched a crowdfunding campaign that will remain active until 22 October. To date, they have managed to raise more than 16,000 euros with their slogan “Salvemos Sa Xerxa” (Save Sa Xerxa). The goal is to reach 66,150 euros.
FIET 2022 programme
FIET 2022 for children’s and young people’s theatre has a wide-ranging programme. The performances will take place both in open-air public spaces and in different locations in the municipality of Vilafranca.

It should be noted that the jury of the National Prize awarded the FIET this 2022 for “the quality of the fair’s programme and the capacity for involvement of the whole town, which makes the Fira an event with a social impact, which dynamises its environment, turning it into a meeting point for artists and citizens”. He also highlighted “its high influence in the field of theatre for children and young people, not only in the performing arts scene in the Catalan language, but also on a national level”.
