A plan to protect and promote the Beds of the Virgin Mary

The Assumption monuments – popularly known as beds of the Virgin – are religious displays recreating the final rest of the Virgin Mary before her assumption into heaven. In 2025, the plan includes documenting and publishing historical-artistic descriptions, intended as a guide to visit and interpret this heritage.

This project is funded by the Joint Commission of the Council of Mallorca and the Bishopric of Mallorca on historical heritage, with the support of institutions such as:

  • City Council of Palma

  • Museum of Mallorca

  • Cathedral of Mallorca

  • ARCA

  • Foundation Friends of Heritage

Coordination is handled by Maiorica Sacra (Bishopric) and the Council.
