Looking for a family outing in Mallorca? Contact with nature and plans with children are one of the healthiest trends that the emergence of the coronavirus has brought into our lives. Nothing better than disconnecting and discovering the amazing landscapes of Mallorca. Next to the sea or between mountains, the smallest of the house deserve a break and go out to discover Mallorca. Which of these family excursions in Mallorca do you prefer?
Descending to Cala Deià
There are family excursions in Mallorca whose final reward is to look out over the Mediterranean. This is the case of this route to Cala Deià to do with children that begins in Arxiduc Lluis Salvador street. It is on the road to Sóller, next to the bus stop. The itinerary runs along Des Porxo street and passes through the town hall, the Can Vallès tower and descends along the Costa den Topa. In this first section through Deià there are elements that give rise to explaining the history and customs of the island. Near the small bridge over the Torrent des Racó is the last mill that worked in the town and the prehistoric museum founded by William Waldren.
The descent to the sea continues along the water course to the Can Boi del Consell refuge. A stop along the way to enjoy your oil mill. This family excursion in Majorca proposed by the Consell continues its course through the neighborhood of Es Clot and the Camí des Ribassos. Upon reaching the Pont de Sa Cala, on the Torrent Major, continue along the paved road, which leads to Cala Deià. On the way back, instead of returning to the path at Pont de Sa Cala, continue along the asphalt road until you take the cobbled path of Sa Vinyeta on the left. Through here the terraces will be skirted until reaching the municipality again.
Son Real public estate
The Son Real public estate, in Can Picafort, is one of the most fun excursions with children in Mallorca. Its secret is that it offers perfect ingredients to spend a day with the family. Upon arrival at the farm, a large car park solves where to leave the car. The options of this family excursion are very varied. In the first place, you can walk through the ‘possession’ itself, a reflection of rural life from decades ago. The museum that it houses, free of charge, is perfect to learn about how the inhabitants of the area lived and what their traditions were.
After learning more about the history of Mallorca, the route begins through the nature trails of the Finca. Before, the peacocks, geese, sheep and animals that are on the farm stand out. Irremediably, they will attract the attention of the little ones. The marked routes are of low difficulty and run through the forest to the Bay of Alcúdia. Perfect place to enjoy a family picnic and appreciate the Son Real necropolis. A unique historical rest on the island.
Bordering the Cúber reservoir
This low-difficulty family excursion in Mallorca is perfect for two reasons. The first, the impressive landscapes and contact with nature in the Serra de Tramuntana. Second, the didactic part that will make children understand where the water we consume comes from.
The itinerary begins at kilometer 33.8 of the Sóller-Pollença road. The channel that connects the Gorg Balu and Cúber reservoirs passes through here. To the left of the small parking lot (be careful, because it tends to fill up), appears the Font des Noguer that served to supply the Cúber estate. Next to the recreational area of banks, a wooden landmark marks the path of the route, parallel to the road. In a short time, the paved road is abandoned to take the path marked GR221. The reservoir is bordered by it, which offers incredible views in the middle of the Serra, at the foot of Puig Major. This path, included in the Consell’s family routes in Mallorca, will pass through the Cúber refuge. The end of the route runs along the side of the reservoir until it reaches the starting point.

Walking through Dragonera to the Llebeig Lighthouse
In front of Sant Elm rises the island of Sa Dragonera. Just the fact of crossing by boat to the island will arouse passions among the little ones. Once there, getting to the Llebeig lighthouse is one of the family excursions in Mallorca with little difficulty with views of the sea throughout the journey. With well-marked paths, the round trip reaches almost 10 km. During the tour it will be easy to meet specimens of the Balearic sargantana, which inhabits the island. A perfect plan to get to know Sa Dragonera with the family, included within the Consell’s family itineraries in Mallorca.
Family excursion to the public estate of Galatzó
In the municipality of Calviá there is another of the most popular plans with children in Mallorca. It is the Finca Galatzó, located within the Serra de Tramuntana and which takes its name from the Puig de Galatzó, which is more than a thousand meters high. The natural wealth of this space attracts, especially on weekends, hundreds of families in search of a perfect plan with children.
On the farm you can see animals such as Mallorcan goats, weasels, hedgehogs, raptors and fauna characteristic of the area. Strolling through the ‘possession’ will allow you to discover the landscape generated by local agriculture and the different traditions and constructions carried out to exploit the farm. Its gardens, the courtyard of the farm, the oil mill … These are some elements that the whole family will surely enjoy. And it is that Galatzó has a high patrimonial value and with nothing more and nothing less than 15 kilometers of hiking routes, in four public itineraries of different degrees of difficulty.
The Esporles Farm and the Raixa Estate
Again, two of those perfect places to visit with the family in Mallorca. The first is the Raixa farm, a possession in the municipality of Bunyola with an imposing cloister that does not go unnoticed. So the spectacularity of its gardens, its stairs and the views it offers are its main attractions. The farm depends on the Consell and has the Raixa – Serra de Tramuntana Interpretation and Visitor Center. It offers information to learn more about Mallorca and the Serra. The hours are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is recommended to review possible changes in schedules, prior appointment or restrictions to the visit.
For its part, the Esporles Farm is another of the best-known family excursions in Mallorca. Just 15 km from Palma, it is also part of the Serra de Tramuntana. The 17th century mansion is surrounded by beautiful gardens and the traditional Mallorcan landscape. Touring its facilities, children will get closer to the ancient trades with live demonstrations and the presence of animals on the farm.
