Coinciding with World Mental Health Day on 10 October, Son Espases University Hospital has inaugurated the exhibition “A click to the mind”, with photographs taken by young people and adolescents who attend the Day Hospital of the Balearic Institute for Childhood and Adolescence (IBSMIA). The exhibition is made up of 22 photographs through which they express their emotions, their thoughts and their experiences with mental health.
Each photograph is the result of a deep and personal process. Using objects, scenery, textures and symbolism, the young people have created images that express what often remains unexpressed, sometimes difficult to tell in words. The texts accompanying the images, by the authors themselves, help to further deepen the message they convey.
“A click to the mind” aims to break down stigmas and open an honest conversation about mental health, especially that of young people. A clamour to create a more welcoming society, with the necessary support and that helps to prevent mental health problems.
The managing director of Son Espases University Hospital, Cristina Granados; the deputy director of Humanisation, User Care and Training of the Health Service, Gabriel Rojo, and the director of the Balearic Institute for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Isabel Flórez, were responsible for inaugurating the exhibition, along with the authors of the photographs.
The exhibition will remain open until 31 October in the foyer of Extractions at Son Espases (floor 0, module K).
