The Palau de Congressos de Palma closed the 2024 financial year with a significant economic impact on the city, reaching 32 million euros. This result is derived from the more than 165 events held in its facilities, with the participation of over 60,000 people. Of these, 20% were large-scale conferences, with more than 500 participants, and approximately 33% were in the health sector. Furthermore, the Palau hosted more than 13,000 international delegates, achieving record numbers in terms of international conferences.

The business volume generated in 2024 by the Palau de Congressos amounted to 21.3 million euros, driven by the spending on accommodation, shopping, dining, and public transport by event attendees. Among the most notable events held at the venue were the world’s largest congress on interventional oncology, the symposium hosted by the European Space Agency, and the FIM 2024 awards, organised by the International Motorcycling Federation.

One of the most significant milestones for the Palau was its establishment as the first carbon-neutral congress centre in Spain, achieving this status through the compensation of scope 1 and 2 emissions reported in 2024 via the ‘The Planet We Love’ emission offset programme.

Palma, a leading destination for congress and incentive tourism

The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism, Culture, Sports, and Municipal Coordination, Javier Bonet, participated in the presentation of the 2024 Palau de Congressos annual report, where he highlighted the key role of the Palau in positioning the city “as a leading destination within the international congress and events tourism sector“. Bonet also emphasised the economic impact of this venue for the city, particularly with the creation of the Innovation District, a transformative project promoted by the Palma City Council, focusing on technological research, the blue economy, culture, and sustainability.

New corporate identity

In the same presentation, the Palau de Congressos de Palma Society unveiled its new corporate identity, with a logo that symbolises the evolution of the venue’s identity, reflecting its connection to the city of Palma and its forward-looking vision. The Managing Director of the Society, María Luisa Hernández, highlighted that this change replaces the previous logo, which represented light, the sea, and the Mediterranean spirit of the island, positioning the Palau as an architectural and cultural landmark in the city.
