The architecture festival for non-architects Open House Palma opened the doors of 68 buildings in Palma to the public this weekend. In total, Open House Palma registered around 13,000 visits to buildings, including 6,500 on Saturday, 5,200 on Sunday and 1,200 who attended the activities scheduled during the week. In its second edition, Open House Palma was extended from two days to a whole week to programme different activities related to the festival.
The organisers were especially satisfied with the 10,000 visits recorded last year to the buildings distributed among the Central, Ponent, Llevant and North areas of Palma, as one of the festival’s goals was to draw the eyes away from the centre and show the value of all the city’s areas.
The Parliament, the most visited
The most visited buildings in this second edition were the Parliament, the Consolat de Mar, Ca n’Oleo, Palau del Consell, the Llotja and the Centre de història i cultura militar. In total, 270 people formed part of the team of Open House Palma volunteers, with people with all kinds of profiles: from students to retired people, as well as more technical and professional profiles.
In the evening, the closing ceremony dedicated to the volunteers took place, where the rewards were handed out: eighteen double tickets to the main theatre, two courses at the UNED and two subscriptions to the Ara Balears newspaper.
