The Santa Catalina market has inaugurated its nativity scene, an artisan work that represents the neighborhood of Santa Catalina in the time of the peasantry. This year it incorporates emblematic buildings such as the Cuba hostel or the Mar i Terra theater and can be visited from 8 am to 3 pm.

On the other hand, on the next 21, 22, 23 and 24 December, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Santa Claus will visit the market, walk through the neighborhood and attend to those children who come to the municipal market . Likewise, next to the nativity scene, a mailbox will be installed to collect the children’s letters.

To facilitate Christmas shopping, the market will extend its usual hours in December until 4:00 p.m. It will also remain open on December 24 and 31.

Market renewal

The Santa Catalina market has carried out, in recent months, different works to improve this municipal space and make it more of a more pleasant place for visitors. These tasks have consisted of cleaning the roofs and installing bars in all open ventilation spaces to prevent the access of pigeons.

Regarding the renewal of its image, the market has renewed its exterior paint, opting for a navy blue color that recovers its seafaring origins. In addition, all the wall panels have been replaced and the lettering has been renewed.

The inauguration was attended by the coordinator of the Promotion and Employment area, Miquel Àngel Capó, and the general director of commerce, Fabrizio Di Giacomo, as well as members of the board of the market, neighborhoods and the person in charge of the nativity scene.
