The air traffic of the Mallorca airport has not yet recovered the level before the pandemic. In 2021 it operated 51.2% less than in 2019 and registered 4,496,857 passengers, an increase of 137% compared to 2020, according to data released by AENA, ranking third in passenger traffic behind Madrid (24,135,220) and Barcelona (18,874,896).

In this sense, the air traffic of Son Sant Joan is still far from recovering the air activity prior to the health crisis. Over the past year there were 141,189 operations, 87% more year-on-year, but 35% less than in 2019.

The airports in the Aena network closed in 2021 with 119,959,671 passengers, which represents 56.4% less passenger traffic in the same period of 2019, that is, a 43.6% recovery in prepandemic traffic.

Compared to 2020, a year already affected by the COVID-19 crisis, 2021 closes with an increase in passenger traffic of 57.7%.

Throughout the year, the number of aircraft movements was 1,518,713, 35.7% less than in 2019; and 998,471 tons of goods were transported, 6.6% less than in 2019.
