Balearic Day 2022 will dress Mallorca for a party. That is why on Tuesday, March 1, the day of the community is celebrated with an artistic and varied program for all citizens. Theater, magic, storytelling, music and endless activities will take place on the island, which commemorates the date on which the Statute of Autonomy was published in the BOE in 1983.
Palma will continue to be the core of this Balearic Day, with 164 activities, although there will be a great involvement of the municipalities to decentralize the focus of the city, and some thirty initiatives will be developed abroad. With regard to the rest of the islands, 30 proposals have been planned in Menorca, 23 in Eivissa and 8 in Formentera.
From art to gastronomy: a week to celebrate Balearic Day 2022
The Consolat de Mar opens its doors again for this celebration after being suspended last year due to the pandemic. Starting on Saturday, February 26, children will be able to enjoy games in the courtyard, theater and storytelling, as well as concerts and open days for the entire Consolat and Llotja del Mar complex. Some of these activities require prior reservation, which can be done at this link.
On Tuesday 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Consolat de Mar there will be a music concert to encourage people who walk through the market. The musical groups will be Tomeu Penya, Leonmanso, The Moonshine Band and La Guineu. Entrance is free and open.
Dramatized routes
The Consell, for its part, has organized on this Balearic Day 2022 dramatized routes and guided visits to the anti-aircraft shelter. And there will be a conference in the plenary hall, “The air-raid shelters of Palma and passive defense in Mallorca during the Civil War”, led by the expert and specialist researcher, Bartomeu Fiol, who explains the history of the shelters and the context in which they were built.
Later, in small groups, a visit to the refuge located under the Palau’s staircase of honor will take place. An activity that has been scheduled for February 25, at 6:00 p.m. and on February 26 at 10:00 a.m.
The activities with the greatest influx of public have been spaced out and the main concert (by Avalanx Project, Saturday 26) has been moved to Paseo del Born. Grandstands have been installed for the Menorca horse show and the exhibitions have been doubled. In addition, there are specific instructions to avoid crowds in certain areas.
Gastronomy will also have its space during the Balearic Day of 2022 in the Feixina park in Palma. Live cooking shows, a regional house fair, workshops and demonstrations will be held in the Denomination of Origin Fair space.
