The central government announced yesterday the end of the application of the fuel discount for individuals. The discount has been available for 9 months since its application to alleviate the rise in fuel prices, but 31 December will be the last day to benefit from this discount. We remind you that the discount is 20 cents per litre of fuel, both petrol and diesel.
The government has announced, however, that a special discount will be maintained for professional transport. Therefore, this discount will continue to apply to road hauliers, fishermen, farmers and also shipping companies.
Pedro Sánchez announced this news after the Council of Ministers held yesterday, which is included in the new package of anti-crisis measures. He has declared that the decision is due to the “favourable evolution of the average price of petrol”, which according to the President, has helped working families.
Mallorca Global Mag wanted to find out if this announcement has already had any effect on Mallorca’s petrol stations. “For the moment we are not seeing long queues to fill up. It’s just like a normal day”, says a worker at a petrol station in Calvià. The main petrol stations in Palma have not seen an increase in the queues to fill up either, but it is expected that in the next few hours, consumers will take advantage of this to fill up their vehicles before the end of the year.
