Emaya has announced the 15th edition of the Opticaigua 2024 photography competition. This event, which has been a tradition since 2007, had to be interrupted in 2019 and 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2024, the theme of the competition is “Aigua per a la pau” (Water for peace), as water can generate peace or provoke conflict. When water is scarce or polluted, or when people have unequal or no access to it, tensions can rise. Public health and prosperity, food and energy systems, economic productivity and environmental integrity depend on a well-functioning and equitable management of the water cycle. That is why the competition suggests thinking about how we should use water as a tool to create a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.
