This Monday, 26 May, marks the start of the Balearic Islands 2025 shopping voucher campaign, an initiative by the Government of the Balearic Islands aimed at promoting local consumption through direct discounts on purchases made at participating establishments. The campaign, officially titled Bonos Illes Balears, will run until 30 June and includes 1,112 businesses across the region, reflecting the interest shown by small retailers in this initiative.

The Balearic Islands 2025 shopping voucher initiative allows consumers to benefit from up to four vouchers worth €15 each, with a maximum of €60 per person. These vouchers are applied as €15 off for every €30 spent. Mallorca has the highest number of participating businesses, with 882 establishments, followed by Menorca with 158, Ibiza with 61, and Formentera with 11.

Each participating business has 76 vouchers to distribute to customers. The process is simple: consumers present their identity document at the time of purchase and can redeem the vouchers directly at the till. For example, if they buy a product worth €45, they only pay €30; or if they purchase something for €150 and use four vouchers, they pay just €90.

The goal of this campaign, driven by the Ministry of Business, Employment and Energy through the Directorate General for Business, Self-Employment and Trade, and in collaboration with the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce, is to strengthen retail trade run by self-employed professionals, microenterprises and small businesses, thereby helping to stimulate the local commercial fabric while providing a direct benefit to the public.

The Minister for Business, Employment and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, stated: “We have been working closely with local trade associations to launch this initiative and help bring commerce closer to the people. With this voucher campaign, we aim to strengthen our ties with local businesses, because together we grow our economy and our communities.”
