BiciPalma has reached 53,000 users and continues to expand its presence across the city. Palma’s public bicycle-sharing service is expected to reach 126 stations and 1,310 bicycles with the next phases of expansion, which will include areas such as Platja de Palma and Passeig Marítim.

Of the users currently registered, 31,600 have an active subscription, representing 59.3% of the total. In addition, since the service opened registration to all members of the public, 30,654 new users have joined, more than 80% of whom are residents of the Balearic Islands.

As a focus keyphrase, I would use BiciPalma 2026, as it covers both the current figures and the upcoming expansion of the service.

BiciPalma 2026 expands its network of stations and bicycles

Expansion is currently continuing with Phase III, which includes 16 new stations, 310 docking points and 150 electric bicycles, with an investment of €800,000.

Some of these stations have already been installed in Sa Teulera, Son Dureta, Son Armadams, Avinguda Picasso and Son Cladera. New stations are expected to open in the coming weeks in Son Rapinya, Son Castelló, Sa Indioteria, Son Espanyol, Cala Gamba, Coll d’en Rabassa, Ciutat Jardí and Can Pastilla.

Phase IV will follow, focusing particularly on Palma’s seafront. It will add 18 stations, 460 docking points and 230 electric bicycles. Thirteen of the stations will be located in Platja de Palma and another five on Passeig Marítim.

Once both expansion phases have been completed, the development of the service since 2023 will be as follows:

  • Stations: from 86 to 126.
  • Bicycles: from 930 to 1,310.
  • Electric bicycles: 659, around half of the fleet.
  • Current users: 53,000.
  • Users with an active subscription: 31,600.

More bicycles available and 24-hour technical support

BiciPalma has also introduced changes to improve bicycle availability. Since January, a night-time redistribution system has been in operation, while technical support has been extended to provide 24-hour coverage.

The number of bicycles redistributed each day has increased from 580 to 708, up 22.1%. The aim is to reduce the number of empty stations, particularly first thing in the morning.

Another new feature is the option to reserve a bicycle, which is already used for 18.2% of rentals. An overflow system has also been introduced, allowing users to end their journey at certain stations even when no docking point is available.

The service has also increased its workforce. Since 2023, the number of mechanics has risen from two to seven, drivers from eight to twelve, and customer service operators from two to four.

The expansion has also brought BiciPalma to the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB). The six stations installed on campus since May 2025 have recorded 13,529 rentals, with an average of 1,041 uses per month.
