The FIET (Children’s and Youth Theater Festival of the Balearic Islands) closed its 22nd edition this Sunday, cementing its status as a cultural landmark in Mallorca after four days packed with performances and activities catering to audiences of all ages. With over 21,000 attendees, the festival transformed Vilafranca de Bonany into the capital of theater and performing arts, hosting companies from various parts of the world.
One of this year’s major achievements was the participation of 37 companies, including 16 from the Balearic Islands, along with others from Italy, Brazil, and Wales. The event also welcomed international programmers from countries like China, Denmark, and Pakistan. This represents a significant step in FIET’s global outreach, enhancing the visibility of participating companies on an international level.

During the 2024 edition, families enjoyed more than 100 performances, including theater, circus, dance, puppetry, and live performances, with active participation from children and youth. The festival also attracted over 150 industry professionals who took part in workshops focused on body dramaturgy and the promotion of historically marginalized genres like dance and circus.
The event placed special emphasis on youth, featuring collaborative projects in educational centers and the creation of a youth volunteer group. This initiative aims to spark interest in performing arts among younger generations, engaging them in cultural activities within their communities.
FIET 2024 concluded with a closing performance by the Circ Pistolet company, which presented their latest work, Quan torni la primavera, making its debut in the Balearic Islands.
