The president of the Government, Francina Armengol, was in favor of extending the requirement of the Covid certificate to the hospitality industry amid the escalation of cases in the Balearic Islands and has indicated that the Executive analyzes what may be the best way to expand the measure, has reported Europa Press. “It is the best measure to control infections in complicated and risky spaces,” she considered.

The president of the Government has reiterated her commitment to measures “not of restriction but of control” and added that she will work together with social agents, city councils and island councils so that the possible use of the certificate is decided by consensus.

The request for an extension of the measure may include nightlife, bars and restaurants. If the initiative to expand the use of the certificate is successful, its requirement in the new spaces will not be immediate because the Government must request authorization from the Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands.
