The municipality of Serra de Tramuntana celebrates the multitudinous festivities of ‘La Beata’ in honor of Santa Catalina Thomàs with a full program of activities between July 15 and August 26. July 28 is the town’s big day with the traditional parade of ‘La Beateta’ presided over by the ‘Carro Triomfal’

In July, Valldemossa gathers people from all corners of Mallorca to celebrate its popular festivities in honor of Santa Catalina Thomàs. As is tradition, in addition to the most important festivities of July, the festivities of the Port of Valldemossa, in honor of the Mare de Déu d’Agost, take place from August 10 to 15. These are followed by the festivities in honor of the patron saint Sant Bartomeu, from August 19 to 26.

Festes de ‘La Beata’: parade of the ‘Carro Triomfal’

With activities for all ages, these multitudinous festivities celebrate their most exciting day on July 28th with the parade of the ‘Carro Triomfal’ in honor of Santa Catalina Thomàs. Thousands of people gather in this village of the Serra de Tramuntana to witness it. Presided over by ‘La Beateta’, this year represented by the girl Maria Mayol Vila, and accompanied by the ‘cort d’angelets’.

So at 21.30 hours is scheduled the departure of the ‘Carro Triomfal’ that will travel the streets of Valldemossa, followed by hundreds of neighbors and visitors. In addition, they will be accompanied by the ‘carretons’ of peasants dressed for the occasion in traditional Mallorcan costumes. Once again this year, the melodies of the Montuïri Music Band, the Xeremiers de sa Garriga and the Band of the Escola de Música de Valldemossa will liven up the route. Among the compositions that can not miss will be the one dedicated to Santa Catalina Thomàs ‘Sor Tomasseta on sou’.
