More than 150 years of railway history in Mallorca
Railway Week in Inca has particular historical significance. On 24 February 1875, Mallorca’s first railway line, connecting Palma and Inca, was inaugurated. The 150th anniversary of its opening was marked in 2025, commemorating the beginning of railway development on the island.
Railway Week is being held nationwide to coincide with the anniversary of the inauguration of the Barcelona–Mataró line on 28 October 1848, considered the first railway on mainland Spain.
Through this inaugural edition, the participating organisations aim to bring railway heritage closer to the public with cultural, educational and informative activities for different age groups.
