The economic fabric of the Balearic Islands continues to be dominated by activities directly linked to tourism. Among the one hundred companies with the highest turnover, travel agencies stand out, with 18 firms; followed by hotel groups, with 17, and air transport companies with 6 – all key pillars of the archipelago’s economy. To compile this ranking, the net revenue from the individual accounts for the 2023 or 2024 financial year was used, according to the official accounts filed by the companies with the Mercantile Registers and included in the Informa database.
The 2025 ranking introduces significant shifts within the Balearic Islands’ top 10 companies, while maintaining an undisputed leader: Air Europa Líneas Aéreas SA once again retains first place, with sales of €2,966,450,000 in 2024, according to the 2025 ranking data. The main change occurs at the top of the table, where World 2 Meet climbs from fourth to second place, while Gas y Electricidad Generación (GESA) drops from second to third. In the hotel sector, Meliá Hotels International and RIUSA II gain positions, moving into fourth and fifth place respectively. Cecosa Supermercados and Ávoris Retail Division also advance in the ranking, while Travelsens remains within the top 10. New entries include Evelop Airlines and Riu Hotels, replacing Criteria Caixa and AXA Mediterranean Holding, once again reflecting the dominant weight of tourism, transport and travel-related services in the archipelago’s economy.
